DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the reappointment of Mary Henderson to the Solano Commission for Women and Girls representing District 1 for a term to expire on September 21, 2030.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Mary Henderson has served on the Solano Commission for Women and Girls since August 24, 2021. She previously dedicated 30 years to a distinguished career as a registered nurse, serving in a wide range of clinical and leadership roles, including administrative, acute care, surgical, neonatal intensive care (NICU), correctional nursing, long-term care licensing and certification, and as CEO of a home health agency.

As a Public Health Nurse with Solano County, Ms. Henderson empowered clients to advocate for themselves, their families, and their healthcare needs. She remains deeply engaged in the community through her involvement with Solano HEALS, the Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA), the Black Chamber of Commerce, the Black Infant Health Advisory Board, and the Maternal and Infant Health Disparities Working Group of the Solano Commission for Women and Girls.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District 1 FY2026/27 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board may choose not to approve the appointment, but that is not the recommendation as Ms. Henderson has served for the last 4 years and is well qualified to serve on the Commission.
