DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors accept a four-year Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) grant for $4,000,000 from the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) to increase availability of prevention and early intervention of mental health services and supports for students from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2024; approve a contract with Solano County Office of Education for $4,000,000 to implement the grant award from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2024; and authorize the County Administrator to execute the contracts with the Mental Health Services Oversight Accountability Commission and Solano County Office of Education.
SUMMARY:
Solano County Health and Social Services collaborated with the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) to apply for a four-year grant from the MHSOAC for $4,000,000 to augment existing mental health services in Solano County schools. The MHSOAC grant application was approved by the Board on February 25, 2020, and Solano County recently received the grant award (Attachment A).
