DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors receive a presentation on the selection of Sonny Garcia as the January 2025 "Employee of the Month" for the County Administration Center Parking Program making him eligible to use the parking space designated for this program.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors established the County Government Center "Employee of the Month" Parking Program for County employees. The Department of Child Support Services has been designated to select an employee for January 2025 and has selected Sonny Garcia, Child Support Specialist, Lead Worker.
Sonny Garcia joined DCSS on January 14, 2019 as a Child Support Specialist Journey Level bringing his prior caseworker experience from Contra Costa County DCSS to Team Solano. In his Lead Worker role, Sonny is responsible for supporting both his supervisor and caseworkers with the day to day operations including training, caseload coverage, workload tracking, and compliance monitoring. In addition to providing support internally amongst his coworkers, Sonny provides excellent customer service to the families we serve in Solano County. Sonny leads by example, seeks ways to work more effectively and efficiently, and is always willing to step up and help when needed. Sonny starts with "yes" and his welcoming demeanor and positive attitude make him a joy to work with. We are honored to have Sonny Garcia as a valued member of the DCSS team and honor him as our employee of the month.

There is no fiscal impact associated with this designation.
