DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Patrick Stasio, Health Assistant, upon his retirement from Solano County with 29 years of dedicated service in the Department of Health and Social Services, Family Health Services Division.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Before joining Solano County, Patrick Stasio retired from the United States (U.S.) Navy with the rank of command master chief petty officer after 43 years of service. While in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Stasio studied aviation medicine before being deployed to serve as a navy medical corpsman in the Korean War.
On February 5, 1996, Mr. Stasio began his second career with Solano County as a Health Assistant in the Health and Social Services, Family Health Services clinics where he utilized his diverse range of health care service-related skills obtained in the U.S. Navy. Additionally, Mr. Stasio obtained a certificate in Community Health Outreach Services from Solano Community College, which also prepared him in assisting individuals in accessing resources, adopting healthy living behaviors, and navigating systems to improve health outcomes.
Mr. Stasio is a homeless advocate with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and worked to support and empower individuals experiencing homelessness by providing access to resources such as healthcare, food, employment, housing, and other essential services.
