DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Sheriff's Office recommends the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept a donation of one fixed asset workstation, two software programs and one computer from Our Rescue to the Solano County Sheriff's Office to combat child exploitation and human trafficking;
2. Delegate authority to the County Administrator to sign the Memorandum of Understanding memorializing the donation; and
3. Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request of $23,279 recognizing unanticipated donated revenue offset by the equipment and software subscription donation based on the purchase price (4/5 vote required).
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Our Rescue is a U.S. based, non-profit, non-governmental organization that partners with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prevent child exploitation and human trafficking. Our Rescue has generously offered to donate software and hardware that will enable the Sheriff's Office detectives to extract evidence from various digital devices and media, such as mobile phones, hard drives and solid-state-drives in order to identify and locate predators and protect and assist in the rescue of victims.
