DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board approve the reappointment of Aaron Crutison, Deputy Director, H&SS, to the First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission for a term of October 3, 2016 through October 3, 2020.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission was established by the Solano County Board of Supervisors on June 8, 1999. The ordinance established a Commission with nine members, including two representatives from the County’s Health and Social Services Department. Aaron Crutison, Deputy Director, H&SS, has been serving on the Commission since October 2, 2012 and the Department is recommending he be reappointed as one of two First 5 Commissioners for H&SS. Gerald Huber, H&SS Director will continue to serve on the Commission as the second H&SS member through July 1, 2019.
Mr. Crutison has a Master's Degree in public administration and has worked for Solano County since 2002. Mr. Crutison brings to the Commission his experience as the Deputy Director of Child Welfare serving the most vulnerable populations in Solano.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the County General Fund with this appointment.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to approve this appointment to the First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission. This is not recommended as Mr. Crutison will bring professional, personal, and community knowledge to the Commission which will enhance its ability to fulfill its roles within the community.

The Department worked with First 5 Solano staff on this appointment.
