DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the reappointment Rhonda Smith to serve on the Solano County Fair Association Board representing District 1 for a term to expire on August 1, 2028.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Rhonda Smith has served on the Board of Directors for the past four years, playing a key role in overseeing the successful 75th anniversary celebration. In addition to her work with the Fair Association Board, Ms. Smith also serves as the County’s Volunteer Coordinator. Contracted through the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL), she has helped connect hundreds of local nonprofit organizations with thousands of community volunteers across Solano County. Her leadership has been especially vital during times of crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the LNU Lightning Complex Fire, where she helped mobilize essential volunteer support on behalf of the County.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District 1 FY2024/25 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board may choose not to approve the appointment, but that is not the recommendation as Rhonda Smith has served the Fair Board association well for the last 4 years.
