DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors authorize the County's contribution of $6,500 from the General Fund contribution allocated to District 1 to benefit the following organizations, including The Boys and Girls Empowerment Group ($1,500), Nuevos Caminos ($1,500), Vallejo Together ($1,500), Solano Pride Center ($1,000) and The Solano Association of Realtors Foundation ($1,000).

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

District 1 has identified five local non-profit organizations for which to contribute its non-county contribution allocation, including:

The Boys and Girls Empowerment Group, $1,500
The Boys and Girls empowerment group works to assist young people, especially those who lack meaningful experiences and opportunities, in reaching their potential as productive, mindful, well-balanced young people. They do this by providing service opportunities that assure successful engagement with community members that include neighborhood empowerment community clean ups, providing free meal boxes every Saturday. The Donation will support their summer youth program where they provide a 6-week summer program where every Friday they take the students from Vallejo on a field trip, to local farms, local events and other places they don't typically experience in their daily lives.
