DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Spering requests that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution to recognize the Filipino-American Community of Fairfield, Suisun, and Vacaville on its 60th Anniversary.
SUMMARY:
The Filipino-American Community of Fairfield, Suisun, and Vacaville was founded in 1952 in response to the poor living conditions of Filipino farm workers in agricultural camps in Suisun and Vacaville, and officially formed in October 1956. This year, the organization will celebrate its 60th Anniversary on October 29, 2016 with a festive Gala in Suisun.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the County General Fund.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose to not adopt this resolution. This is not recommended as adopting this resolution provides an opportunity to recognize the Filipino-American Community and its contributions to Solano County. This type of recognition is in keeping with the values of the Solano County Board of Supervisors.
