DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Solano County Department of Veteran Services recommends the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution recognizing November 4 - 11, 2025 as Operation Green Light for Veterans in Solano County, a time to salute and honor our active, transitioning, and retired service members, recognizing them for their service to our country, for protecting our freedom and way of life, and for their ongoing contributions to Solano County and our community.
SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:
In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Solano County officials will illuminate the County Administration Center, located at 675 Texas Street in Fairfield, with green lights, starting November 4 and continuing through 11, 2025 as part of Operation Green Light, a national collaborative initiative of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) to support military veterans.
Operation Green Light was launched in 2021 to help raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources that are available at the County, State, and federal level to assist veterans and their families. In 2024, more than 450 counties participated in Operation Green Light, including Solano County.
