DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

First 5 Solano recommends the Board of Supervisors:

1. Approve the reappointment of Anthony Ayala to the Solano County Child Care Planning Council (CCPC) for the term of August 8, 2025 - August 7, 2027; and

2. Approve the appointment of Sabrina Drake to the Solano County Child Care Planning Council for the term of August 26, 2025 - August 25, 2027.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Welfare and Institution code ?10485 requires the Board of Supervisors and the County Superintendent of Schools appoint the CCPC's membership. One half of the members are appointed by the Superintendent of Schools and the other half are appointed by the Board of Supervisors; the one additional member is by concurrence. State law also requires that CCPC membership be distributed as follows: 20% consumers of childcare services, 20% childcare providers, 20% community representatives, 20% public agency representatives, and the remaining 20% from any of the above categories at the discretion of the Board and Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. Anthony (Tony) Ayala could continue to serve in the Community Representative category on the CCPC. He has held this position on the CCPC since August 2023. With over 25 years of experience in early childhood education, Mr. Ayala has worked in various roles, including as a classroom teacher. He currently serves as a full-time instructor of Child Development and Family Studies at Solano Community College.
