DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board authorize the County's contributions of $1,000 from the General Fund contribution allocated to District 5 to benefit Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce in providing sponsorship funds for the Rio Vista Junior Bass Derby.

Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce Sponsorship of Junior Bass Derby ($1,000)
The Rio Vista Bass Derby and Festival has been a cornerstone of the community for 77 years, bringing people together. The festival celebrates the community and supports local businesses and non-profits. The Derby teaches kids about wildlife conservation, safe fishing practices, and respect for nature-planting the seeds for lifelong outdoor values. This sponsorship is investing in the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and community leaders, while reinforcing its commitment to education, inclusion, and civic pride. provides a fun, educational, and safe fishing experience for local you-many of whom are discovering fishing and outdoors for the first time.

Guidelines for Grand Funding Requests:

Each district must adhere to the following County Counsel guidelines in awarding a grant from this appropriation:

1) Each supervisor must submit the proposed expenditure to the County Counsel and the Auditor/Controller for initial review.
2) The Board must approve the expenditure by a majority vote.
3) The Board must determine that the expenditure is for a public purpose.
4) The Board may authorize an expenditure of public funds to a nonprofit organization so long as the County retains ultimate control over the exercise of judgement and discretion of the intended program.
