DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Dion Denes to serve on the Dixon Fire Protection District Board of Directors representing District 5 for a term to expire March 1, 2030.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Dion Denes brings more than 15 years of business experience in Solano County and a firsthand understanding of the critical importance of reliable fire protection. After assisting victims of the 2020 LNU Fires and experiencing fire loss personally, he developed a deep commitment to emergency preparedness and community safety. Known for his collaborative approach and sound judgment, Dion seeks to serve on the Dixon Fire Protection District Board of Directors to help ensure public resources are managed responsibly while supporting both the firefighters who protect the community and the residents who depend on their service.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2025/26 Adopted Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to appoint Dion Denes, but that is not recommended as he is well qualified, brings with him valuable resources and skills, and will be an excellent addition to the Dixon Fire Protection District Board of Directors.
