DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Craig Pyle, Engineering Services Supervisor, upon his retirement from the Department of Resource Management with over 34 years of dedicated public service.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Craig Pyle will be retiring on July 14, 2024 as an engineering services supervisor with the Department of Resource Management after 17 years of service with the Department of Resource Management and 34 total years of public service to Solano County residents. In 1982, Mr. Pyle earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Honors from the University of Wyoming and immediately began his engineering career working for Mare Island Naval Shipyard. At Mare Island, Mr. Pyle worked in the Design Branch where he earned his Professional Civil Engineer license in 1985 and promoted to structural engineer. His work there entailed extensive structural, civil and geotechnical work to maintain and improve shipyard buildings.
In 1995, Craig was promoted to work as part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Focus Team where he was tasked with lease compliance, local area network engineering, and hazardous materials inventories. As Mare Island Naval Shipyard closed, Mr. Pyle left in 1999 to begin his own structural engineering firm in Vallejo. Craig worked on residential and commercial structural designs throughout Solano County for eight years.
