DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Seifert requests that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution approving the application and authorizing the execution of a grant contract with the California Arts Council.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The California Arts Council and the California Legislature established a State-Local Partnership Program in 1977 designed to encourage local cultural planning and decision-making and to reach previously under-served constituents.
The Solano Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to bring pride and artistic experiences directly to Solano County through programs and resources that enable people to create, present, produce, teach, and learn.
The Solano County Arts Council is interested in submitting an application to the California Arts Council for a grant to support their operations which promote art in Solano County. The resolution under Board's consideration allows the Solano County Arts Council to apply for up to $12,000 in FY2013/14.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The grant funding for the Solano County Arts Council will be for fostering local and regional projects and programs such as eco-art and other community arts projects and there will be no impact to the County's General Fund.
