DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Spering requests that the Board ratify a resolution of the Solano County Board of Supervisors honoring Patsy Van Ouwerkerk as Woman of the Year in Observance of "Women's History Month" 2013.
SUMMARY:
Solano County Library Foundation annually sponsors a luncheon in honor of "Women's History Month". Funds raised during the luncheon benefit the Solano County Library and go towards the purchase of materials related to Women's History studies and programs.
The Women's History Month committee selected Patsy Van Ouwerkerk as the "Woman of the Year for 2013" in recognition of her leadership and achievements as the CEO of Travis Credit Union.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact to the County General Fund.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to adopt the resolution. This is not recommended as adopting this resolution is an opportunity to recognize the role women play in history and to honor an outstanding woman in Solano County's community.
