DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board receive a presentation by the Department of General Services on the selection of Fred Connor as the July 2017 "Employee of the Month" for the County Administration Center Parking Program making him eligible to use the parking space designated for this purpose.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The "Employee of the Month" Parking Program for County employees has been in place since September 13, 2005, with a rotating monthly departmental assignment where departments may recognize an employee for their efforts by providing the utilization of parking space No.1 in the County Parking Garage for one month.
July 2017 has been selected as the month for General Services to recognize one of its exemplary employees: Fred Connor. Fred has been employed as a Buyer in the Central Services Division of General Services since October 2001. Fred was promoted to the position of Senior Buyer in November of 2007. Fred is highly respected by his peers, is very committed to his duties as the Senior Buyer and exemplifies excellent work ethics. He presents himself as a loyal employee working in the best interest of the County. Fred is exceptional at educating County staff on best procurement practices, particularly as it pertains to public safety and transportation. He has proven his knowledge of the marketplace by saving Solano County taxpayers money through competitive procurement of goods and services. Fred is known by the Department's managers and co-workers as detail oriented and knowledgeable; Fred is an invaluable asset to the General Services Department.
