DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor John Vasquez and Supervisor Jim Spering request that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution honoring Glen Grant upon his retirement from the Board of Directors of the Solano Irrigation District with over 14 years of dedicated public service.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Glen Grant joined the Solano Irrigation District Board (SID) in 2003 and has served as the Board’s president since 2012.

Glen Grant’s leadership on the SID Board brought reliable, high quality water services at reasonable rates to customers; moved the organization to a cost service basis for water rates; kept SID on a secure financial basis; modernized its accounting system; completed a strategic plan; constructed a potable water system for Pleasants Hills Ranch Estates; and commenced the automation of SID’s agricultural water delivery system.

Glen Grant’s entire career was devoted to water. He was a well-respected professional civil engineer and worked for over 40 years for various environmental engineering consulting firms, specializing in planning and designing water and wastewater facilities.

Glen Grant also served on the Suisun-Solano Water Authority Board. He was involved in the creation of a successful Joint Power Authority between Suisun City and SID that developed the capital improvement plan to modernize the Suisun Water Treatment plan, resulting in affordable, safe, reliable water services for Suisun City residents.

Glen Grant also served on the Suisun-Solano Water Authority Board, the Association of California Water Agencies Region 4, the Suisun Fire Protection District, as a long-standing member of the Solano Cycling Club and the Solano Transportation Bicycle Advisory Committee.
