DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board receive a presentation by the County Administrator on the selection of Tammi Ackerman and Melinda Sandy as the March 2018 "Employees of the Month" making them eligible to use the parking space designated for this program.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors established the County Government Center "Employee of the Month Parking" program for County employees. Each month a County department is designated to select one of its employees as "Employee of the Month". For their exceptional leadership during the 2017 "Peace, Love and Veggies Holiday Food Fight", the County Administrator's Office has selected Tammi Ackerman and Melinda Sandy as the deserving employees for the month of March 2018, allowing them to each park in the designated parking area for half of the month.

Ms. Ackerman and Ms. Sandy are being recognized for their exceptional leadership in making the 2017 "Peace, Love and Veggies Holiday Food Fight" a huge success, ultimately helping to raise $37,087 from County employees for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Some of their achievements during the Food Fight included:
1. Successful recruitment and training of 43 department team leaders to help facilitate charitable activities, including raffles, gift baskets, silent auctions and food related events
2. Assisting the Public Communications Officer (PCO) with the creation of a promotional video to encourage County employees to check-out and contribute to County food fight events
3. Managing tracking and collection of all charitable funds coming in from the departments
