DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Director of Library Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve a plaque of appreciation honoring Lani A. Clarke upon her retirement from the Department of Library Services with over 18 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Lani A. Clarke began her career with Solano County Library on May 28, 1999 as a Children's Librarian at the Vacaville Public Library (currently the Vacaville Public Library - Cultural Center). She earned several promotions in her career, including Supervising Librarian at the Vacaville Public Library - Cultural Center on November 4, 2007 and Library Branch Manager for the Fairfield Civic Center Library, Fairfield Cordelia Library and Suisun City Library on January 18, 2015.
Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Clarke has provided excellent service and support to the people of Solano County. She was instrumental in developing and overseeing numerous county-wide library services including a tax preparation assistance program for lower income residents and an outreach ambassador program, which introduces library services and resources to the community at local events throughout the County.
Ms. Clarke has actively encouraged the skills, interests and professional development of her staff members for the County's benefit. Her sound judgment and confident decision-making have earned her the respect of staff at all levels.
Ms. Clarke has demonstrated the highest commitment to uncompromising excellence in all matters related to public library service in Solano County.
