DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Director of Library Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and a plaque of appreciation honoring Mary Anne Peterson upon her retirement from the Department of Library Services with over 31 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Mary Anne Peterson began her career with Solano County Library on October 23, 1986 as a Student Clerical Aide I at the Rio Vista Library. Ms. Peterson earned numerous promotions in her long and exemplary career serving the residents of Rio Vista, including Student Clerical Aide II, Library Aide (Extra-Help), Library Assistant (Part-Time) and finally Library Assistant (Full-Time) on April 1, 2001.

Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Peterson has provided excellent customer service and support to the residents of Solano County. As a long-time resident of Rio Vista, she has brought an intimate knowledge of and connection to the local community that will be missed. Her warmth and kind nature did much to create an ambiance of small town welcome and charm at the Library.

Ms. Peterson has demonstrated the highest commitment to uncompromising excellence in all matters related to public library service in Solano County.

Ms. Peterson retires on March 16, 2018 with over 31 years of outstanding service. She is greatly valued and will be missed by her friends, co-workers and colleagues in the Library community for her integrity, breadth of knowledge, and dedication to the highest ideals of Library culture.
