DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

The Probation Department recommends the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and approve plaque of appreciation honoring Jane K. Kays, Senior Deputy Probation Officer, upon her retirement from the Solano County Probation Department, with over 24 years of dedicated public service to Solano County. 

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:   

 

Ms. Kays started her career in Solano County as a Deputy Probation Officer-Journey Level on January 30, 1994.  On July 15, 2007, Jane Kays was promoted to Senior Deputy Probation Officer where she has served until her retirement.

 

Ms. Kays dedicated herself to serving and protecting the community by working with juveniles to hold them accountable, supporting victim restoration efforts, facilitating the rehabilitation of youth, and providing effective and proven treatment programs. Ms. Kays’ experience in Juvenile Field Services has allowed her to effectively provide supervision services to countless youth in the cities of Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield and Vallejo, as well as their families, during her 24 years of service.

 

Ms. Kays has performed her duties throughout her years of service in a professional, compassionate, and responsible manner.  As a Senior Deputy Probation Officer, she has displayed a commitment to the mission of the Solano County Probation Department which is to Reduce Recidivism through Positive Behavior Change. Ms. Kays has positively impacted youth as well as their families.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:     

 

The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2017/18 Adopted Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2017/18 Adopted Budget.

 

ALTERNATIVES:     

 

The Board could choose not to adopt this resolution and plaque of appreciation.  This is not recommended as this is an opportunity to recognize Ms. Kays’ dedication and contributions to Solano County.
