DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Thomson requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Mike Reis to the Montezuma Fire Protection District, representing District 5, for a four year term to expire March 1, 2022.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Mike Reis has been a long-time Solano County resident and valued member of the community for decades. Mr. Reis possesses an array of skills and has a comprehensive understanding of fire and agricultural issues. Mr. Reis retired from UC Davis’ Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, running the Food Animal Department for 27 years. His current activities include raising and caring for 150 goats and other ranch duties.
Mr. Reis has also been a member of numerous organizations, including America Boer Goat Association, California Northern Meat Goat Association, 4-H Project Leader, Livestock Supervisor at the Dixon Mayfair, as well as working with the Livestock Nursery at our very own Solano County Fair.
Mr. Reis’ commitment to serve Solano County residents and ensure that the Commission has the proper resources to protect our landowners will greatly assist the Montezuma Fire Protection District.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed by the District 5 FY2017/18 Adopted Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to appoint Mike Reis to the Montezuma Fire Protection District, but this is not in the best interests of the Montezuma Fire Protection District or the residents.

None.
