DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board approve a plaque of appreciation honoring Cynthia Brice-Smith, Eligibility Benefits Specialist II, upon her retirement from the Employment & Eligibility Services (E&ES) Division with over 18 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Cynthia Brice-Smith began her career with Solano County on July 25, 2000 as an Eligibility Benefits Specialist I. After Ms. Brice-Smith completed her job training, she worked in the E&ES Medi-Cal Unit in the Vallejo office as an Eligibility Benefits Specialist II. Ms. Brice-Smith worked in the Vallejo office until 2002 when she was reassigned to NorthBay Hospital as an Outstation worker where she processed Medi-Cal applications onsite.

In June of 2009, Ms. Brice-Smith was reassigned to the E&ES regional office in Fairfield where she was part of the Multi-Program Intake (MPI) Unit processing applications for the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids Program (CalWORKs), Medi-Cal and CalFresh. Ms. Brice-Smith is a dedicated Eligibility Benefits Specialist II who is known for working quickly and prioritizing the needs of her clients. Ms. Brice-Smith's customer service skills are exemplary, and she is recognized as a team player who is always willing to volunteer to help her fellow coworkers. She is well liked and respected in the office and will be truly missed.

Ms. Brice-Smith retires from E&ES on May 3, 2019 and H&SS wishes her well in her retirement and future endeavors.
