DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The County Administrator recommends that the Board of Supervisors ratify the October 278, 2019 Proclamation of Local Emergency and adopt a resolution confirming the need to continue the Local Emergency Proclamation signed by the County Administrator in response to recent public safety power shutoffs (PSPS), wildfires, including the Kincade fire in Sonoma which started on October 23, 2019 and remains an active fire, and an emergency water conservation notice in the city of Vallejo related to the PSPS.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On October 278, 2019, Birgitta Corsello, County Administrator, signed a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to conditions that have caused or threaten to cause the destruction of critical infrastructure, residences, businesses, the evacuation of residents, the exposure and infliction of severe respiratory distress, and other damage and impacts related to PSPS, wildfires, and an emergency water conservation notice in the city of Vallejo.
Continuing the Proclamation would make Solano County eligible for any available State and Federal disaster assistance funds. The County's estimated direct costs are to be determined as work progresses and reports are completed.
In addition to Solano County, all public entities, to include incorporated cities, school districts, community college districts and other public entities that incurred damage, may be eligible for public assistance as well as Small Business Administration loans should they become available.
