DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Department of Health and Social Services recommends that the Board adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Allison Marotta, Social Worker III in the Health & Social Services Department, Public Health Division, Older & Disabled Adult Services Bureau, upon her retirement with over 30 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION

Allison Marotta began her career with Solano County on February 6, 1989 as an Eligibility Intake Worker for the Employment and Eligibility Services Division. In Employment and Eligibility Services, Ms. Marotta was responsible for the application of regulations to determine eligibility for multiple public assistance programs. While in the Employment and Eligibility Services Division, Ms. Marotta promoted to an Eligibility Worker II and in September of 1992 began work at the Greater Avenues for Independence (GAIN) program, providing employment-related services to CalWORKs participants.

In September 1994, Ms. Marotta promoted to a Social Worker II position in the Older & Disabled Adult Services Division, where she was responsible for casework in the In-Home Supportive Services program.  In September 1999, she took a brief break from County service to explore a career as a Flight Attendant.  Ms. Marotta returned to County service in December 1999 as a Social Worker II in the In-Home Supportive Services program.

In December 2007, Ms. Marotta promoted to a Social Worker III in the Older & Disabled Adult Services Division, providing Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement services for the In-Home Supportive Services program. In May 2010, Ms. Marotta began working in the Adult Protective Services program, where she was responsible for the investigation of reports of elder and dependent adult abuse and intake assessments for the In-Home Supportive Services program.

Ms. Marotta has been a strong advocate for seniors and people with disabilities and she has consistently been willing to help her fellow coworkers, supervisors and managers administer services to Solano County residents needing assistance.  Ms. Marotta will officially retire effective December 30, 2019 after providing more than 30 years of service in a professional, compassionate and responsible manner. She will very much be missed.
