DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the Notice of Completion for the Claybank Warehouse Freezer Replacement Project at 2500 Claybank Road in Fairfield by REM Construction, Inc. of Chico; and
2. Authorize the Clerk of the Board to record the executed Notice of Completion.
SUMMARY:
On March 26, 2019, the Board awarded a construction contract to REM Construction Inc. to replace the existing aging walk-in freezer with new wall partitions, doors, ceiling and associated electrical and mechanical work at the Claybank Warehouse located at 2500 Claybank Road in Fairfield. During the course of construction, the quality of work satisfied the requirements of the construction documents prepared by Cannon Design of San Francisco and has been deemed code compliant. The Department of General Services is requesting that the Board approve the Notice of Completion for the Project and authorize the Clerk of the Board to record the document in order to release retention funds held by the County.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Board approved $450,000 from Accumulated Capital Outlay Fund and $150,000 from General Fund Expenditure (Budget Unit 1779). The construction contract with REM Construction Inc was awarded for $478,258 and three contract change orders were issued in the amount of $7,607, resulting in a final construction contract of $485,865. The total project cost including design fees, permits, project management, and other miscellaneous costs was $594,350.
