DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Monica Brown recommends the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution honoring Elizabeth Patterson for her 17 years of elected service to the City of Benicia.
SUMMARY:
Elizabeth Patterson is retiring from elected office in the City of Benicia after one term on the council and three terms as mayor.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District 2 FY2020/21 Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2020/21 Budget.
DISCUSSION:
The work Mayor Patterson has accomplished during her 17 years of service in elected office has benefited residents of both Benicia and Solano County. Mayor Patterson has served on many regional and County boards, including, but not limited to, protecting the environment, bringing resources to Benicia, and bridging communities to resolve the future of the armory in Benicia.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to adopt this resolution, however, this is not recommended, as the Board has previously adopted a similar resolution for a similar time in public services.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Benicia Councilmember and Mayor-elect Steve Young was consulted for this report.
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
