DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board of Supervisors:

1. Authorize the Director of Resource Management to execute any contracts in an amount not to exceed $191,000 for an emergency repair purchase from Bellingham Marine for emergency replacement and installation of the boat launch float dock at Sandy Beach Park; and

2. Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request for $91,000 from the Parks Fund to fund the work. (4/5 vote required).

SUMMARY:

The Parks Division has been coordinating planned maintenance and repairs to the boat launch float dock at Sandy Beach Park as identified and funded by the FY2023/24 Working Budget. This work was planned to occur in February/March of 2024. The series of high wind-generated winter storms that impacted Solano County from January through early March of 2024 resulted in damage exceeding the planned scope of repairs, leading to the need for a complete replacement of the launch dock float. Replacement of the existing dock exceeds the allocated funds in the FY2023/24 Working Budget for repairs, which total $100,000, requiring additional revenues of $91,000 to fund the total cost of replacement at $191,000.
