DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve an agreement for $328,000 with CWS Construction Group, Inc. of Novato for the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Hall Improvement Project at the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Hall, 420 Admiral Callaghan Lane; and
2. Authorize the County Administrator or designee to execute the agreement and any amendments within the approved project budget.
SUMMARY:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve an agreement with CWS Construction Group, Inc. of Novato for $328,000 (Attachment A) as the lowest responsible bidder for the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Hall Accessibility Improvement Project (Project).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total approved budget for the Project is $450,000 (Budget Unit 1679). The project is funded from the Capital Renewal Reserve Fund for $300,000 and the Accumulated Capital Outlay Fund for $150,000.
DISCUSSION:
The Project consists of interior access improvements and includes remodeling existing restrooms, providing drinking fountains, upgrading the kitchen and providing an accessible ramp to the stage. The Project was advertised as required by Public Contract Code. A total of two bids were received: CWS Construction Group, Inc. of Novato for $328,000; and the other one from B Bros Construction, Inc. of San Leandro for $406,340.
