DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the Board adopt and present a resolution recognizing Robert Bloom for 21 years of service on the occasion of his retirement from the Workforce Development Board of Solano County.

SUMMARY:

Robert Bloom will be retiring after 21 years of dedicated service at the Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Solano County, a private, not-for-profit, federally funded organization that operates in partnership with Solano County and works to improve the nation's workforce at the local level by making sure that job seekers and employers have access to the tools, training and recruitment platforms necessary to make mutually beneficial employment connections. Mr. Bloom has been instrumental in providing oversight necessary to help the agency thrive and mature to the organization it is today.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The cost of providing the resolution is included in the Board of Supervisors' Administration budget.

DISCUSSION:

The Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Solano County is a private, not-for-profit, federally funded organization that operates in partnership with Solano County and works to improve the nation's workforce at the local level by making sure that job seekers and employers have access to the tools, training and recruitment platforms necessary to make mutually beneficial employment connections. Mr. Bloom retired on May 19, 2017 as the agency's Executive Director. During his tenure, he was instrumental in providing leadership and direction, overseeing federally funded job training and employment assistance programs.
